arenas, clubs, jams, boats, parties, stale muffins

23.3.2009

i'm in a funny mood, so i figured i'd update you on the goings on in camp me and us.

we just recorded a second batch of demos for our forthcoming opus. i'm listening to them now. i'm rather happy with them. it was just some sick, live session at chateau long wave, but it sounds dope, fuh sho.

we're looking at timbaland to produce. looking is about as much as we will do. i don't want him to just 'ey' and make weird fucking groany yelps on our shit anyway. i've got that base covered quite comfortably, thanks very much.

on the real, it sounds really nice. there's a good mix of warren g vibes. fast jams, slow jams, killer jams. all sorts of jams. we're like robinsons but without a penchant for marketing explicitly racist pin badges to young conserve lovers. so, this puts us a step nearer to recording our album in the next couple of months. we'll probably continue to create dazzling new flavour combinations, much like walkers and their crisps are trying to achieve with their latest publicity vacuum. even our worst can't be worse than chilli and chocolate. aaaah, you really can't beat a good food/music analogy. it's good for the soul.

we played a few shows recently. some of them were with fall out boy, who some of you might know as that band on tv and the radio and the internet and the everything. the shows were ridiculous. ridiculous. somehow, during the last 4 years of musical tomfoolery, we managed to score ourselves into venues that prince and hanson (not anymore) have played. thanks to everyone who watched us on that tour. we didn't expect such a nice reception. you were lovely. hugs.

incidentally, while onstage at the o2 arena (a sentence i'm quite proud of already), i gave props to michael jackson, seen as though he is the primary purveyor of pop chops and is soon to take residency in the concrete cavern. some attendees saw fit to boo the man! not just some, either. quite a notable amount, in fact. enough for me to be shocked, anyway. ironically, that same subsection of morons would sing - verbatim - fall out boy's cover of beat it some 2 hours later. sterling effort, folks, simply sterling.

after this arena tour, we made a trip to belfast for a jack daniels sponsored show. it was filmed for tv and is aired on channel 4 on april 3rd. you can watch it if you have a television. everyone else can just listen to our album on shuffle and imagine us all sweating and swooning over irish accents between songs. if you also imagine some sick mc-ing over the middle 8 of fisticuffs, you will get a truer experience. after the show we went to the club next door and had a truly awesome time. everyone in belfast seemed to be ridiculously friendly and gracious, which is really nice. we had a nice time mingling, despite a tragically early bar call.

i feel i should probably talk about the ordeal that was the trip to belfast. we live in wales - not far, i think. correct. however, when you live in wales, then drive out of wales to birkenhead to board the slowest, most understaffed and understocked ferry that's ever sailed ol' davey john's locker, it's a different kettle of fish. we sat on that floating fuck bucket for 8 hours. to put that into context - it takes 7 or so hours to fly to new york. so all in all, thats 16 hours on water with nothing but stale muffins, shit arcade games and a shop that sold revels, 3 kinds of perfume and heat magazine. FML.

thennnn, last wednesday we played clwb ifor bach to celebrate the birth of one romesh dodangoda. it was also billed as a celebration of his new premises but i don't like to admit to celebrate buildings (even nice ones with hi-tech gizmos and spacious live rooms and nice wooden floors), sooo i just called it a birthday party. a right old good time was had by all. we played drunkish for the first time since we realised people were actually coming to our shows with expectations. we played some new songs and some covers and then went to barfly and drank free sambuca, sang along to the best music ever and hung out with the good peeps for 2 or 3 glorious hours. good times.

thats really about all. i've exhausted myself. it's mam's day tomorrow so be nice. mam's r good.

and on that maternal note... sleep tight, planet earth.

aled x

Hey

Hey guys u like rocked my world on the fallout boy support tour in Cardiff

Posted by Sammi on 1st April, 2009 at 7:29pm

02+ more

wow after that i dunno where to start.
how about whoa- thats my reading done for today lol
i ws at the show in the o2 and whoa u guys were awesome- no offence but i had heard a couple of ur songs such as saturday n give me what i want and i thought u guys were alrite- but after that show- man u prooved me wrong u guys were amazing- i just went out a week ago to get ur cd- wanted the actual copy, not something downloaded- gives it more value- well to me any way
next up i would like to try to settle this dispute over michael jackson. as we all know, he is a legend, his moves, his songs its great. however i think he got booed at the 02 when mentioned because he has f*cked up him self. i mean wat was the need for the plastic surgery n all- on top of that the stories in the press doesnt exactly make him seem like the best guy. the media seems to have manipulated us into thinking that this extremely talented man is not that amazing.
dunno if that settled anything- ws probably just rambling on bout random shit but hey- it ws worth a go.
finally, u guys are doing really awesome- keep rocking and dance all night
lol sorry couldnt help my self
